Hi , I had earlier problems with my forum i installed on my FTP Hosting Client at godaddy! So i deleted everything and i wanted to start from beginning, first of all it said, unable to delete few files, well that is acceptable i guess , then i refreshed page after 10, now its about 30 minutes already and i still see half of my stuff from previous installation in there, things like theme , templates, stats and loads of different text files! So my question is how long does it normally take to uninstall it properly, or am i experiencing some problems? What to do ?

Is it recommended to install new forum files on it now while the stuff from old one is still there ?

    cheers

if you used fantastico to install your forum, then you should of used fantastico to remove it.

if you installed it yourself and want the files gone, they should just delete when you delete them and it shouldn't take long.

if you upload new files, they should overwrite the old ones.

Via an FTP client it can take quite a while, as the client has to issue a delete command for every individual file. If you have a lot of themes, you'll have a lot of images, and therefore a lot of files. In my experience deletion of a full phpBB install takes less than 10 mins. Installing a forum over the top of an old one isn't usually that damaging... in fact that's how most forums are upgraded to the latest version(!).

Someone with shell access could delete them for you in seconds, all of them regardless of permissions. I'd suggest you ask your support team to wipe it?

    Good luck,
