    Afaik, usually up to a few weeks. Try using a google alert for a site:www.site.com search, this way you can stop looking every few minuts :p

    try to get a high PR link to your site and let google find it itself..better than submittin afaik..

    You can actually manage this within some days, although you should know that the first index will likely not contain all your pages.
    is your sitemap already verified?
