How long does google take to find and report the links you have created? I have been building links for my blogs for a couple of months now and although i have seen a marked improvement in technorati authority as technorati has found the linkings google's webmaster tools lists only one link to my blog. Is it just that google has a long lead time for compiling the data and presenting it? Wellington300 (I have been noticing a pick up in traffic from search engines from none to a bit I am taking this to mean that the backlinks are building up they just aren't shown in the reports?) Finally does anyone know whether links from facebook "do follow" or do not follow, I blog about politics so spend some time their in the political groups discussing/generating traffic. The traffic is decent just wondering whether the links will ever be worth anything.
Google's webmaster tools updates the links data about every 2 or 3 months. The links will show up eventually. I don't know about facebook specifically, but you can check any site by viewing the source code from your browser and seeing if the link back to you has rel=nofollow in it.
No, Google webmaster tools will show new backlinks quite quickly. link: however updates every blue moon.
thanks, yer the links are registering with webmaster tools slowly (a whole three now!) but link: still has no results whatsoever, i guess ill just give it time. is their anyother way of determining the number of backlinks you have been able to generate? thanks for the tip on how to determine whether a link follows. wellington300
a href="http://beat-the-bank.blogspot.com" target="_blank" rel="nofollow"> That is the link description within the facebook code so i guess that facebook is good for attracting human eyes but not googles which is unfortunate, given its always nice to have traffic and ranking from the one link rather that having to run two promotions side by side.
