I submitted one of my domains to register as a DNS through idotz where i bought it from.

It would register as ns1.mydomainname.com ns2.mydomainname.com

How long does it take for the domain to be registered as a DNS domain name.

In theory full propagation takes up to 72 hours. However, propagation today is a lot faster and it takes only from practicaly real time to one hour to propagate to most name servers. Only a few slow name servers may take up to 1 day, but you should not care about that as it is a negligible proportion.
