Hey folks, I'm a noob to the Amazon affiliate program so I have a newbie question. When someone clicks on your affiliate link how long does the amazon cookie stay in their system?
As far as i know, an Affiliate id stays at one's system for 30 days.. that's why when they return to the the site using a direct link and buy a product, u still earn from it..
Shoot for making an immediate sale. Plenty of people clear their cache/cookies upon closing the browser window.
That is the problem in the affiliate marketing. Still I've also heard about something like 24h for Amazon
Thanks guys and gals. I know Clickbank cookies stay for a while as do lots of other affiliate programs, but I always heard Amazon cookies had a much shorter lifespan. So it sounds like 24 hours is the majority answer. Thanks for the feedback everybody.
I just know this too. Only 24 hr is such a short time. Some program their cookies last for like a year!
So just get as many people to click your link as possible to some random item and then keep your fingers crossed they decide to buy something within 24 hours....sounds like a great plan! Haha. I'm joking ofcourse.
One day and that is bad, because according to my experience with other networks, about 50% buyers don't buy the first day. They came back latter during the next 10 days and buy.
If you use a store type website to promote amazon or the customer adds to cart then it lasts for 90 days. Otherwise it lasts 24 hours.
I recorded a video to show how long the cookie will last in each situation: Using a shopping cart on your website is the only way to guarantee a 90 day cookie.
