How long does it take for a domain name transfer to be completed.
My new hosting company said it would be 24 to 48 hours. I have dome what I was told but now they say it could be another week and that it is out of their control. Do I have concern it will not take place or what does this mean.

    It depends on the company.
Why your want to transfer it to your new host?

As stated it depends on the host. Just confirming, you are transferring, not pushing, correct?

The subject of domain transfers is probably one of the most confused topics
around online forums. Quite understandable. :)

Without knowing what specific kind of transfer you're doing, I'll give a couple
    of rough estimates:

Domain registrar transfers (from registrar A to registrar B) - 5 to 10 days.

Domain nameserver changes (switching hosting providers) - 5 min. to 72 hrs.

Domain account transfers (within same registrar) - 24 hours average.

In reality, how soon a "domain transfer" takes complete effect depends on all
relevant parties doing their respective parts in a timely manner.

What kind of a domain transfer are you doing exactly, anyway?
