How long do you think it would take for a computer site to get out of the sandbox?

    I think I'm going to start a computer site, and I'm just wondering how long I'll be in the sandbox. I don't remember how long FPS Gaming took, but halo-2-glitches.com was pulling in over 100 uniques a day 1-2 weeks after I started it.

    Dude,

    I think that the sandbox is only what you make it. You can easily get a good number of visitors with some smart marketing.

    I think the sandbox also is different for different keywords. More competitive keywords have a longer time in the sandbox..

    Traffic isn't anything to do with the sandbox, rankings are. You can easily get a lot of traffic from a lot of uncompetitive search tersm without ranking for anything major. You tend to find this with forums and other sites that generate a lot of pages.

    To escape the sandbox on a competitive term you'll be looking at 6-9 months depending on the quality of links that you get.

    Yeah, I doubt Halo 2 glitches will be a highly competitive phrase; so it really depends on what kind of computer site you will be creating. A general computer site will take the usual 6-9 months; but one with a more specific target audience won;t be effected by the sandbox.
