How Long Do You Experience The Google Dance?

Lol, right now, my site is fairly new. Has been up since the 23rd of July. So I optimized it, and it's currently ranking within the first two pages. First day it ranked, it went to the 5th result. Now it's been bouncing, and is at 11th now (though it was at 9th position this morning). I know, when people ask this question, most of you answer with "Keep building backlinks and you'll do fine". My question is, how long does the Google dance last. If there isn't a set time, then how long did it last for you?

It will always changes in the begining of your site.once your site page rank will be more than 3 I guess it will not dance and be always within 2 pages.
but for that you need to keep on working on your sites and keep building backlinks.

Jumping up and down a few positions is a daily event and it is not a real google dance.

    Well..
There isn't any set time. It take about 4 weeks for my new blog to get a steady position And, only 5~6 days for my forum.

3 days to 5 days max depends on the website stats like how old and how many links and its PR

I consider it a Google dance since my prior site was quite stable. Stayed locked in the first position. Hardly had any troubles staying on the first page. This site, however, constantly falls up and down off the first page. But anyway, thanks to you all for the input! I'm hoping to get in the top 5 by the end of the month.

hello, for the new sites if you insist in building backlinks you'll get a stable possition in serps after 2-3 month.

Usually the google dance is a few days, but I have seen instances where extreme backlinking caused it to take longer.
