How long do reported posts take for action? It's annoying to have people post in the wrong forum and place. Sent in a couple today.

    Thanks

As far as my observation goes, all "reported posts" may not see any action.

You are wrong. Every report is viewed. The maximum time can be 3 days perhaps.

How are you able to even see all the posts that are reported?

@ Shawn, I don't see all what have been reported, but I know what I've reported and if they all had action, mostly misplaced posts.

@ laxman363, so every post is reviewed but may not see any action...?

All i can say is sometimes it takes little bit more time (depends on time availibility - mods). And btw mods needs to check forums for spams, dup. threads, wrong forum postings manually too (otherthan reports posts by members).

    DON.

But DON, those ARE exactly the things that are reported. Or do you mean Mods go on for a hike in the forum and search for the wrong-doers? Many of my reports also go unnoticed. It is only when I pm a couple of mods about some wrong-doing these , things are noticed and taken care of.

There are a lot of moderators and some are not always online 24 hours a day. Just report threads/posts and avoid that one post or thread. Don't be the one to reply to a spammer..etc

Like Deluxdon said, moderators have more things to do on this forum then just read reports all day. Some reports might even be totally useless and no action taken. Some reports could slip through and not even be read. Not everyone is perfect.

Some moderators don't have powers in certain sections so then can read the report but take no action in removing the post or do whatever is needed and have to wait for another moderator to get to the report. Complaining about it, won't do any good because you are wasting the mods time by having them reading threads in this section. :p

Exactly, mods are not bots that they can be online for 24 hours. However, when a post have been reported then there might be some reason behind it and if it is not checked/actioned then overlooking can be a backfire as who have reported may not be interested to report in future. And the poster will be encouraged as though it was spam/wrong section etc has no adverse affect on him/her. Just for an exaple, recently I found a poster with post count more than 200 (not junks) posting requirement in forum which is not BST. It is not that OP is not aware of BST, has been used BST earlier (checked OP's past threads from profile). And then OP created a duplicate thread with same requirement in BST. Yet, both posts are intact in respective section.

I understand mods might be overloaded but is it true every reported posts are viewed.

Some of them haven't even been active for weeks  Now what's the point of having a forum this big, and a regulator force of a couple odd moderators? If the mods are busy with their regular lives and don't have much time to spend on the net, get new , active mods who can sweep away most of the filth.

For a moderation team consisting of 19 members, it shouldn't be a heavy task.
