No relevance whatsoever to the growth and structure of the bouyant Directory Market :)

The quality Directory Market continues to prosper and the QBC market continues to diminish

As long as your directory is online then I would say it is surviving, you may not be getting any submissions, but hey, you're still online right? (I'm being silly of course).

True! But looking @ the 100's of directories being started everyday, the future seems to bit gloomy. Besides this there are so many directories slowly convert into link farms if the owner doesnt care much.

Exactly it's all part of fly by night dir's. Google knows which DIR's are good and wich aren't by their strength etc. You'll notice though that many good dir's are are slowly making the transition from a directory to a resource w/ a directory :D

Evolution... Keep up or Die off!

yes, only the strongest will survive at the end..... SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST and i believe that the quality ones will continue to evolve as times change, so to answer your question: NEVER.

Thats exactly what I was going to say. Link farms will not survive as we all know that, but if you have a quality directory then you get rewarded by SEs

This same thread gets started every single week....yawn. Same answer as all the other threads I guess, the bad ones will probably disappear and the good ones will go strong for many years to come.

and banless you do have a valid point, a directory might be sitting idle right now but if it still has a nice look and the owner is building backlinks up it might just need a kick-start of promotion to get it going. A personal example for me is one of my newest directories directoryoffun.com I had a really nice custom template built and it is running phpld v3.2 but I have just not found any time to promote it, I might be looking for a partner down-the-road within the entertainment industry to help me.

The same goes with my GoSubmit directory. Just finding no time to promote or market it. Its a custom built script.

Directories survive as long as google change its Page Ranking Algorithm.

Directories are the best method for link building so it can survive for a long !

    Yip there dead alright...

    Come on now.......

what kind of webmaster says something crazy like this?

The web directory is NOT going anywhere anytime soon...

As i always say ill say it again...

The day backlinks arent counted in google is that day the directory dies.
