How long did it take you to make $1/day?

At the moment I'm making a few cents per day - not loosing hope, just wondering what to do.

I need to add more content, and increase my traffic.

Content will come in time - how can I build traffic? At the moment I'm getting around 50 uniques per day :(. There is no way I can make anything with that number of hits.

SEO is working great for me - I'm getting a lot of google hits after one week at my new domain.

My ads (I beleive) are well integrated in my page (check my sig)

What else should I do to get more traffic? Relevant, real, traffic?

I tried submitting articles, they just ranked above me in google, and sent nothing. My exchanged links are going ok, but very few of them are relevant to my content - this I want to change.

So the million dollar question is, what should I do?

How do you get thousands of hits per day? Is it a case of waiting until I have a bigger site, wating to get indexed... Some guidance would be appreciated :)

You said it all yourself; wait and write are the two most important things with new websites. You need to keep writing good quality articles and wait until the search engines index it.

How long it took me to make $1 a day? Around four months i think, but once you crossed the $1 a day, you'll notice it becomes easier to reach the $2 a day.

you can make a bit of money with 50 uniques/day you just need to optimise the content more to seek out higher paying keywords.

I have sites with less than 50 uniques per day that make around 2-3$ per day.

Also i think you can find other sources of income. your site reviews cds right? so why not affiliate with a site which sells cds (amazon) or allows user to download the tracks (itunes)

Yeap, clicking on my covers (at the top of each review) takes you to their amazon page, and I'm just waiting to be accepted as an itunes affiliate :). Thanks you for your suggestions, I think I need to just keep on reviewing, and forget about earning for the time being.

i think you need to make it more obvious that clicking on the CD takes you to amazon, if i didn't notice it then its unlikely that others will. maybe put a link under each cover saying "buy this at amazon"

    just a thought..

Some days are slow for me, others are great, my new site, which I launched only yesterday made almost $4 on the first day, which was nice. Of course it was not listed in any search engine at the time and relied on a link elsewhere for traffic. If only I had the same today :(

Just keep working hard, it took me a few months to break that barrier once I first realised the potential in adsense. Now im hitting $10-30 a day, I found developing a single website didnt work well for me so I now have about 10. Try working for 19 hours a day for several months, it does pay off in the end :p

So how do you get link traffic in one day - and enough of it to give you $4 in clicks?

I'm thinking that once i'm approved with itunes, I'll have a link to that at the end of the review (probably a "Buy Here" image, so it stands out)

Just my 2 cents..The ads are good integrated but I think you took the wrong color choice. They look too much as a adsence ad. My advice would be try to test with black color. The title, text and url..It's working better on most of my sites :) and try to get the font and font size almost the same as the google ads.

One of my sites only have around 50 unique a day and it makes between 7-12$/day..just try and test different things..

You know, I'm not really sure. I've had my website about 4months and up until about a week ago I was making 0.30-0.50 a day, but for the last week I haven't made anything under $1 a day. Not sure if this is a temporary thing (I hope it isn't) or if my earnings have just progressed a little. Either way I'll keep pushing for more :D

Well I work part time in a real job but I finished my studies last year. I put all my spare time into building my websites up though, it takes a little while to see results though. Keep adding content, optimize and expand.

Think about your target audience, if you target the older generation (50+) although there aren't as many of them the chances are they aren't going to be quite as computer literate as say the 16-25's so you'll get more clicks.

Took around a month to get $1/mo, and it's true, after you hit $1/day, you will have more convidence to pass it and with a harder work you'll double your earning.
    Just Keep working jackslounge

get an adwords account and create a dummy adgroup, pause it and then start bidding on different keywords with an unlimited budget. this tells you the max CPC for each keywords and from this you can estimate which keywords are gonna pay the highest.
