My site was indexed within 2 weeks. atleast the main page. I have one page that has been indexed with actual content. The pages are what I need indexed. that is better than yahoo, (they host my site and I just have my main page linked) and msn! My guess is who knows how long it takes! Keep at it and you will be ok!

I believe its relatively easy to be indexed. Just putting your website in your sig will probably get you indexed in a few days. It took about 3 weeks for my first website but after I joined DP and learned from the gurus, it only took a couple of days to be indexed on my second website.

Getting indexed is different from being in the sandbox. You might be indexed but you could stay in the sandbox for 1 year. I'm still 4.5 months and waiting...

Avoiding the phantom sandbox is not a given nor is there a magic formula I think. However, I think it's possible to hasten any ill affect by having an effective and realistic approach with a new site.

Yes, links are important, but remember, slow and steady wins the race - especially when you're the new kid on the block; coming out of the gate with 1000s will only raise flags.

More important IMO is not attempting to go for very competitive keywords right away - this too can be a red flag IMO.

Content should undoubtedly be written for the user, but let's face it, we're concerned about being "likeable" to search engines too.

You're not going to rank on "Paris Hilton" as a brand new site. That term is searched 10000x a day and it has 1000s of people competing for hit - hence, a very low or negative KEI. But "paris hilton wallpapers" is only search about 100 times a day and fewer sites competing for it = higher KEI.

I've had sites that never were affected by the G Sandbox and others that spent over a year not wanting to play there but the gates were locked. With all other things being equal, the only differentiation was the competitiveness of the keywords I was trying to get SE traffic on ...

... take it at face value, only my experience, it's not in an ebook :D

So I learned something since my last post on this thread, you can be in the sandbox and be indexed by google at the same time. If I am wrong please set me straight!

    Wanna bet ?

Currently 1300 daily genuine quality organic targetted uniques (busiest day 4000+), lots of 1s in all 3 engines (results in millions, not thousands), competitive market, real competitors, real seos and high profile. Site earning very well daily.

Potential over next 6 months: 4-8 times current earnings without improvement in rankings (based on increased awareness).

Repeated Twice with KWT graphs to prove the sites were never "sandboxed".

    Total expenditure £60 + time.

One thing that I have found works great for avoiding the Google Sandbox is by not submitting your site to Google at all. A better and faster way to get listed by Google is by letting them find your site through links found on other sites (link building). For me on average my websites are usually listed with in 2 weeks sometimes less than that. I found that this little technique works great and seems to really avoid Sandbox affect.

    Hope This Helps

IMO Sandbox does still exists and should not be ignored. How long depends on which category you prefered to play with. If you've created site to compete in
    - Real Estate
    - Loan, Mortgage
    - Lose weight
    - etc.
Most of them are very high competitive that make you a long long way to wait for emerge out of sandbox. :D

For an example. My site is 1 month + 7 days old. My site is real estate directory focused on USA. PR 0 + sandboxed seems hard to exchange relevant links from site that has higher PR, only submitted to directories. But my site has a good position on msn by 2 of 5 main keywords (4th position and 8th position at first page) but gone a million+ placed on GG (just assumption ;) )

IMO, sandbox just an age filtered that made to prevent big guys built many small site and pointed back to main site and get main site rank boosted. and also prevent new site to stand a good placed by bought links from high PR directory but lite of contents.:D

Almost 7 months to the day.

I doubted there was one and thought it was something I was simply doing wrong as by the time I learned about SEO my original site was five years old. Once I learned about it I was able to grow the traffic substantially as the site had great PR as it was and was easy to change somethings to improve in areas where we were trying to grow.

When I launched a new site I used the same things that worked well with my original site but couldn't understand why we weren't ranking in Google for anything, all the while enjoying success in MSN and Yahoo. Then I heard about the filter and it started to make sense.

The proof finally came one day after the aforementioned 7 month time frame in which I checked the keyword tool, only to see either N/A or a number greater than 168 or better everyday. My site with quite a few keyword sets sat at 178-186, reaching as high as 125 and then dropping back and forth again for months. Meanwhile we ranked top 10 in MSN and Yahoo for nearly every keyword set. Then one day while looking at the Keyworld tool, much to my surprise, a breakthrough. All of a sudden that one day they all shot up into the top 10 on Google. All the while with the same number of backlinks and the same PR we had held since the last update.

So to jump for no reason from #176 - #3 and then to stay there ever since couldn't have happened without a reason. The filter exists....that's just the way it is. It stinks, there's no question, but it's there.
