How long did it take you to get out of Google's sandbox?

    I have a 5 month old site.
I'm seeing nice levels of traffic from Yahoo and from MSN, but I'm getting NOTHING from Google.

Since I see that for most people, Google is the main traffic source I just wonder how much time did it take YOU to get out of the infamous sandbox.

Please share your own personal experience.

    Thanks!

Depends on when they want to let you out. Just keep working on fresh content and getting backlinks. There is no real timeline.

3-4 months, the site is now PR5 with 100,000 pages indexed and 5k+ uniques a day. Does a total of around good six figure sales per month business for my client.

In my experience the bigger the site the longer the wait - we now have 300,000 pages indexed on google, but had to wait 6 months to get out of the sandbox.

I have a blog that never went into the sandbox...

    Its hard to say

Here's my trick to beat the sandbox
i can normally get index in 2 days for a new site & domain. A link off a PR5 site will get you index in 2 days.

i target niches based on potential keyword traffic vs competition. if you target high competition keywords where professionals play you are going to be in the sandbox for a long time. In addition it pays to have a network of sites with PR & do one way links from your network. submit to 150 oneway link directories. I generally can pull 50 to 200 per day in 3 weeks with a new domain

if you are in the sandbox you don't have enough links.

    flame away :D

Yeh, links are key. But links with google can be harder to get. I have 10 times as many links on yahoo then google, and 3 times as many on msn then yahoo =O

I've got two sites that are 3 months old, neither hit the sandbox and get great traffic from G. Another site of mine (my main site) is still in the sandbox and it's been 8 months. I get small traffic from G, around 100 uniques a month... but I get 3,000 from MSN :/ - should be getting 10k+ from G

My site is about 6 months old and still sandboxed.

I am totally confused about the whole issue, my site has good content, some unique, some not and some unique but also used for articles on articles submission sites. I update the site every day. I have submited my site to directories but now I am not sure whether this was the right thing to have done. Basically, I am cluching at straws. I wish google would get their brainpower together and sort this sandbox into a fairer system. I am new to SEO and I feel I am creating a good site which can help people but my site is getting hardly any traffic because of this sandbox. I have read so many articles and forum posts on the subject and one thing is clear - no one really knows how to get out of the sandbox and I am totally confused.

By using this unfair sandbox filter, I feel that Google could be making more problems in the future for themselves, as webmaster become more desperate and frustrated I can see them using more black hat methods just to get some decent traffic.

it took me 7 months. 2, if you count when I actually started posting regularly. But I think the google index is enjoying the read, and keeping all my info for itself. It doesn't index ALL my articles...
