How long can a site be down without taking a big hit in the SERPS?

Hostgator just turned off one of my sites yesterday because it was taking up to many resources on the shared hosting server. How long do you think I have before it takes a huge hit in the serps? Right not it is showing a 403 forbidden page

I sure wish they had given me some warning, so I could have worked to lighten the load on the server before they pulled the plug

nightmare. all depends on caching frequency, whenever Gbot comes back and find pages gone it will start.

on the plus side rankings usually come back fairly fast when you put it back up

In case it is gonna cause you any trouble , you should be able to see in webmaster tools: unreachable urls. once the website is back , it should be all good , including rankings.
