Hi all, I was wondering what some of your opinions are on how long it takes for Google to return results on a new site. My site has been live for a little over a month. I just released a press release last week and was fortunate enough to get picked by some major news sites and blogs. I received at least 100 quality backlinks (PR4 or higher, at least 2 PR7) within a couple days. When I search for my domain name (or many of my targeted keywords) Google returns many of the pages linking to my site, but not my site, and according to Google Webmaster Tools, my site was last crawled July 29. Is this typical or am I skrewed? Does Google hate me or are they just slow? Am I sandboxed? Your thoughts are appreciated...
Did you try the site command? That would tell you if the site is indexed. Maybe you should post the URL here so that other people can check.
Can you type the sites URL ( I relise you can make it live), that would help with a little investigation.
Google sometimes takes awhile to update. I'd give it until the end of August to see what happens. Also, are you sure that the pages carrying your press release were high-PR. Or rather, was it that these site's homepages were high PR? That does make a difference.
Your problem is solved? If not, tell us your domain name, maybe there is something there Google didn't like.
Have you put in into Googlewebmaster tools? Have you tried putting link: and then the URL to see if Google is recognising those links?
google is very slow to act, it take awhile to get to the top. This is to prevent spam sites going to the top.
Maybe I posted too soon. My results started showing up late last night. It's funny, it seems like every time I have a problem with Google, I post in some forum and the problem mysteriously solves itself. Creepy, huh
BTW, the reason I don't post my URL is I'm paranoid that Google might read this and blacklist me forever
Why would you think that google will blacklist you for a question about your site? Also remember that google has a lot of data centers. You may be indexed in some and not in others at first.
It seems like Google construes any effort on the webmasters' part to improve his/her ranking as a form of manipulation or spam. Their webmasters TOS is very intimidating. Currently they hold all the power and I fear them
In that case (going by your logic) we should all pack DP in and go home. Reveal all, you may be supprised at just how much it can HELP your site rather than cause it any hinderance.
