How long before GOOGLE "picks up" DMOZ data?

Discussion in 'ODP / DMOZ' started by DomainLoot, Apr 20, 2005.

Anyone have any idea how long it takes GOOGLE to add sites from DMOZ
    to it's directory?

In other words, once DMOZ has added a site, how long before it appears in the directory.google.com?

    Thoughts/experience?

    Thanks,

It took my site about 2 months to show in searches on Google (by company name) as being listed on the DMOZ, and a little more than 3 months to get added into the google directory.

I think this is dependent on how deep your link is, more than anything.

And once in the DMOZ, many sites will pick up the listings, and you will have free, one-way links in. Not all are useful and some are PR0, but the good do seem to outweigh the bad.

The good usually have a unique design for each site, and split the data over pages in a different ratio than most. (i.e., 20 links per page vs. all in category)

For me it was about a month and a half. It really depends on when you are accepted as it isn't updated every day.

If you browse the SEO forums there are a lot of people that announce the updates. I will try to post back to this thread when the next one hits so you can see if you are included.

It'll certainly happen a lot quicker than actually getting listed in DMOZ
