thats depand on the quality of the directories that you submitted to, in my experience as a SEO, if you submit to 50-60 High quality Paid directories, you can see some results after just 4-5 weeks.

but it also depand on the competition, keywords.. and submitting to directories is just 1 of many link building strategies, you should also get links from related and relevant websites, niche directories..

Are you sure ? if you are sure please give me your competitor URL and Your targeted keyword in the serps, so i can add him in my network of 60 Quality directories, i bet he will beat you in about 3-4 weeks :), then because am nice you can pay me $$$ to replace his URL with yours.

You can't just buy 10 or 20 good links and except that...the competition is huge...

In my very little experience I think you can see results within 1 month which I saw on one of my sites (a small test I did)

    Thanks.

I agree that once google and yahoo and others finds your link then you will start moving up the rankings.
Quality does have much to offer but relevance and content is king ...

As for adding his competitors links...:p
hehehhe i agree that if the directories are decent they can and will pass his..
When that directorycontest.com thing was going around !ASK! only had 2 weeks
and i offered him a sitewide across my then network of 30+ and within those 2 weeks
he moved up from page 5 to 1st place and took the win...;) and nobody could catch him after that...

    thx

yep thats a very good example malcolm :), and i have experiences with much more competive keywords, something like "from the 8th page to the top 10" for keywords as hard as home business opportunities, if anybody here doenst believe in the power of quality directories please feel free to give me ur competitor's URL. :D

    cheers.

2-6 weeks depending on how often the directory pages you are listed on get crawled by the search engines. Its really up to you to track your keywords and see how they change as the directory listings get indexed. I keep a spreadsheet of all my directory listings and check when they are crawled etc.

If you have chosen your directories correctly then you should see an improvement.

Try to list with relevant keyphrase in few directories..
You can get good ranking within a week i suppose if the listing gets cached.

malcolm is much better at this than I am . I'm not a "web guy". But I have learned a lot from these guys. I would use your main few keyword/phrases and just submit to a whole bunch of directories alternating your key phrases in the titles.

I would mix it up and submit to free & paid directories.

As long as you also have your keywords in your title and content I'm sure you will see results.

    Good luck.
