i don't think java script is harmful , while flash cant be crawled by search engines and wont be indexed .
Both flash and javascript are not harmful, nor beneficial. Google-bot can't index javascript nor flash and any information provided by these won't be indexed. That said. If you have alot of html links on your site and all content is presented by javascript or Flash you might have a problem, because all that Google-bot sees is a page full of links. According to Robert van Glabbeek Google cant crawl Javascript and Flash. but most of the websites are now using Advanced Version of Javascript i.e JQuery and advanced Flash and they are coming in the better result page in Google. my question is then how they are coming in the Search engine result page as they are Javascript and Flash?
You can use flash and javascript until you are not harming your user experience. like your site shouldn't get slower after adding flash. don't use inline javascript and don't use crawlable text in javascript.
Hi ajay pattnaik, Those sites usually serve static content besides the javascript/flash, were they rank for. And not only on-site but also off-site factors play a huge role for sites using javascript/flash a lot.
