i just wondering are you people are using VPS or shared hosting ? i just need some opinions about VPS if you are using like 1) you manage yourself ? 2) any special softwares you are using in your account ? ( such as installing own versions of java tomcat , or any other web servers of your interest ? ) planning to get one vps but not sure whether to move or not it will be good if you are using vps ( dedicated ) and share your experience ( also the hosting company you are using )
I was planning on setting up my own server at home and host my site, But reading around, I will need to have a t1 line atleast, So I started to get my clients to open their own website now and charge them 3 bucks a month for hosting.. So far, I have about 60 or so clients already paying to share my hosting account now. Im atleast waiting to get 80 or more clients then I could get the t1 lines.. I did some computer setup in at this company that got new servers, They were throwing the old one they had there, So I took them.. there were dual XEON Processor , Not dual core, but dual CPU , I got my hands on 5 of them, Well I could not load any more to my trunk, So the rest others people from the area took it.. They all have been setup already and have been playing with it for while trying to get used to it, But lack in knowledge on how to go about setting a hosting company, nothing big but something good enough to keep my site going which is about 4 of them that I own and the clients site.. So this will help me out if someone is able to provide the information you requested, Cause I will love to learn what software people use to run their own..
Managing a VPS is extremely easy... If you use LXadmin , you wont have any probs (its free ) If you use fantastico and all then its even more easy to manage
cool, I have never heard of the first one you mention, However, I have heard a lot of the other, I just though Fantastico was a installer for programs within the hosting company, such on to install forums blogs and other software for you.. that is what I though, But guess I was wrong, Well atleast I learn something new.. wo hooooo ..
