How is this T-shirt design? would you wear it?

I vectored a diamond from scratch (never really taken the time to notice the facets and suck on a diamond) in Illustrator and a little blood puddle and I'm wanting to make it a shirt. The original is 300dpi, plenty for printing.

    anyway, here it is:

Leave comments here/deviant art, favorites and stuff are appreciated always.

Is the red thing supposed to be blood? It looks like a (magic) carpet to me.

yeh thats pretty cool, blood could be a bit more realistic, if you made the text different then it would probably be something i would wear

I think you've drawn 2 seperate elements whereas it would be far more convincing if that were not the case. Also your light tints don't do the diamond justice and the medium in which you're portraying your image will not be kind to your image. Blood is not a mere matter of a red splodge or something resembling cloth. Sorry, but I think your image fails to portray its message.

So, how to improve your message:
Look at a diamond, look how much of it is taken by dark areas and huge contrasts. You should use references rather than your mind to create images unless you have a very creative hand:
    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/africa/616149.stm
Look at the shape, it resembles a tear, or perhaps a drop of blood? What about using the blood on the top of the diamond dripping down and reflections of the red in the diamond itself. Think of the classic iced doughnut effect. Of course you might want to rid yourself of the tints and create panels of solid colour which will work better in your printing process. Or, the diamond could be splattered with blood, dirty, and gritty use of colour. Perhaps the blood spills/drips could resemble currencies? or the clasping of hands?

I can think of a number of ways to interpret this message and I think what would truly win the hearts is a grungey, splattered background suggesting the anger and danger of Sierra Leone against the beauty of the end product. Your choice of font would probably suit this method quite well.

    good luck

Good idea for a start. Try to work on it a little bit more and you will get to the point when everyone will like to wear it.

What audience is this for? I wouldn't personally wear it because it's not my style.. I think the graphic is nice though, but the font could change.

I wouldnt rock it, the diamond could be better in my opinion..Is this suppose to be sold as a shirt? Like to people into hip hop and what not? Since Kanye West made a song exactly about blood Diamonds.

kanye west made a song, a very good song, however he isn't the first to take notice of Sierra Leone. his song was the motivation behind the design though.

the audience would be humanitarians, however i LOVE the idea of making this more of a grunge feel. I think the hip-hop crowd would embrace it, and also various others.

I'm taking this back to the drawing board. I just made it last night as sort of a mockup. the original font was a cleaner font but i changed it to grungy style at the last minute.
I love the idea of having blood trickle from the top, that sounds tight.

whoever said it looks like it was made in 5 minutes: close guess, but it took about 10 minutes ;)

Thanks for the positive and negative feedback.

I thought on this further and did a few doodles, blood dripping from the top works reasonably well but having it appear from the stone worked better. Try at the side, sloping along the edge of the diamond until it reaches the bottom and turns into a droplet, it worked for me. I also took this further with the blood splattering from the drip and forming a river as much of the diamonds from Sierra Leone are found in rivers.
Another idea I came up with was a splattering of dried blood forming the shape of a diamond, I think that originates from and idea I recently did for a bank where their logo immitated a coffee cup stain. Unfortunately I can't show that coz its not gone live yet.

As a strapline I quite liked part of the idiom "Blood From a Stone!" and it wouldn't take much to use some rhyme in there (Sierra Leone).

Please let us see how your logo develops
