Guys I need help. I can't figure out how the site www.premierstreams.co.uk is ranking so well for premier streams, live premiership football and other keys when there seems to be no backlinks. Am I going nuts or is google???
What's so surprising? There is absolutely no competition for premier streams (no traffic too). In this case having the exact keyword in your domain is more than enough. By the way the site ranks nowhere for live premiership football.
I just ran a check on http://www.diagnosticoweb.com/ and found that it is number 1 in google for premier streams keyword. Alexa traffic is just over 350,000.
According to the Google keyword tool, they get low search volume for 'premier streams'. So it is a very low volume keyword with little competition. Probably nobody else has links with that specific link anchor text. It isn't really worth targeting.
the site only has one backlink in google but has 39 links on yahoo. google doesn't show all the backlinks btw and for low competitive search terms, only a handfull of backlink is good enough. in this case, the domain is keyword rich so along with few backlinks (which google isn't showing yet), the site got ranked for couple of terms. not getting much traffic though...
Hey guys thanks for replying, I think my biggest wonder was how it was on page 3 or 4 for watch live football when my site isn't even in the top 1000 and I have loads more backlinks and content. I understand now that 95% of its traffic isn't coming from the engines but from video sites etc so IMHO this site, if no work is done, will be dead in the water in a couple of months. I found a few of the high traffic links it was getting was from justin.tv and its link has already been removed! I'm trying to rank for live premiership football myself lol tom
Ok, let's expand the topic. How can you tell how difficult it is to rank for a keyword. Please don't say it's to do with the page 1 of 10billion etc as I've ranked for a term with over 40mill results in a month and have never ranked for certain ones who have less than 200,000 results....
The number of results in Google means nothing. Check the first 10-20-30 results in Google. Do they target the exact same keyword phrase? Are they old and established sites with thousands of indexed pages and high PR? If you see a .net .org .info domain available with the exact keyword phrase then the completion is low. On the other hand if all TLDs are taken you will have a very hard time ranking for that keyword.
Yeah, exact keyword phrase domain names win every time. Even in competitive markets with very little in-bound links.
keyword match in domain is important enough to rank for competitive phrases (5,960,000 results) eg http://www.google.com.au/search?hl=en&q=safe+n+sound&btnG=Search&meta=
