Check out the SERPS for "optimizacija"

    http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=optimizacija

the first site in results is optimizacija.com
this site has only 1 inbound link and no content.

Check out BL with Yahoo Siteexplorer:
    http://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/search?p=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.optimizacija.com&bwm=p&bwmf=u

my site is located on 39th place on that keyword
    www.red-orbit.com/optimizacija_spletnih_strani.php

i have pretty good keyword density, much more inbound links and I followed seo guidelines as much as could.

So tell me..how is it possible that that site is ranked #1 and my site #39???

Is there anything that i can do to improve my ranking?

Yeah, it's the domain name. Can you buy their domain from them?

It can't last and there are ways to beat a domain name's own serp.

You might just tell them you want it for the word, not the serp, because their serp won't last anyway ?

strictly avoid using your red-orbit in title tags like in your a.m. page
optimizacija spletnih strani :: Red Orbit

it "dilutes" your SEO for every page
adn use the 65+ characters in title meta tag for a longer useful title to improve seo

the very same applies to oyur description meta tag
use up to some 189n characters, hence a few descriptive sentences with the important keywords in a few variations to have better keyword coverage
variations = plural/singular and other variations of the key-words according to "stem" of word

Not stupid at all. A large portion of the search traffic to sites with a recognized domain name comes from novice Internet users who simply type the domain name in a search box (instead of typing it into the browser's address bar). Since the goal of a search engine is to give users the results they are looking for, it makes sense for engines to return the site corresponding to the domain name.

the first one with a particular idea is the pioneer
he has free domain name choice and selects the major keyword for his new idea
he gets a benefit for being a leader and pioneer - for life

all others are copiers and followers - they either have to work harder or just trail a little in serps

no one forces anyone to be a copier of an idea
there still are millions of unique ideas left to create something unique and new
and thus to select a domain with a major keyword inside the domain name

to do so just requires more innovation and more crativity, lots of more work to research all from scratch

hence to give bonus points to domain-names with kewords dot com etc is nothing stupid at all - just a help offered to surfers to distinguish between idea-copiers and idea-pioneers - it's Google's reward for firsts in an industry

It really looks like that domain name has a big influence on Google.

But I'm sure that every site with no keywords in domain name can rank well. It's just the matter of optimization. It's interesting to see that even 653 BL vs 1 BL in Yahoo! is not enough to beat them. I think that the only way to beat them is to build more inbound links. Am I wrong?

First do a search engine optimisation test on your site to see why you are not at the top, and then do a comparison of your site and the other sites ranked above yours. I use Web CEO to do both these things, plus a few more and it is great. It is a very useful tool when you’re trying to get to the top of the SEs and best of all it is free, you can download it at www.webceo.com

The domain name in the serps plays a role for sure.

    Check this out>
    http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&rlz=1T4EGLC_en___US177&q=naples+cabinets

My site is #2 for that search term. I have really pushed for that keyword and I was always in the number 1 place. All the sudden naplescabinets.com comes from nowhere and bumps me to #2. They have no backlinks, no PR, and not really anything at all on the site, but they still grabbed #1 from me.

I think Google really weighs a .com domain really heavy.

I even have a cabinet article page full of huge unique articles with tons of "naples cabinets" keywords in them. Actually my article page has a higher pr than the homepage lol. http://jwpincorporated.com/html/infocenter.html
