So I'm cruising around the web looki nfor new ideas and tricks in SEO right .. I come across this and it makes no sense to me. I came across a site called smashmagazine*com I notice that most every page on their site is at least a PR 6 - while others not going below PR 5. top level , sublevel..any page you click on the site is a PR 6. So I put it into yahoo with link: (and one of the various sublevel pages) then I turn off showing inlinks from that domain. And what do i see? scrolling lists of inlinks coming from feeds.feedburner.com inlinks. but here's where it gets interesting.. The indexed URLs for the feedburner inlinks SOMEHOW have redirects on them. for example here is a inlink to smashmagazine indexed on yahoo search engine ..it looks like this. http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/SmashingMagazine/~3/299095017/ if you click that link, it redirects you to the smashmagazine page. BLAM!~ Ya know how on feedburner you usually open the feed page that still resides on feedburner and it'll show the list of your titles and feeds. but this isn't the case with smashmagazine. 144,000 links to some of their pages and 98% of them coming from feedburner ..and all of those redirect to the smashmagazine page. Very interesting i think to my-frigign-self. I try to replicate for test purposes..but feedburner wont allow me to create a URL for the feed that has the ~r/ in it . I try adding a php redirect to a line of the .XML feed and submit it to feedburner. Its accepted but doesnt do anything. The feed page still pops up on feedburner as normal and only shows my non-working link to a feed. Do you have any idea how this could be accomplished? I cant figure out how they are getting feeds.feedburner links indexed in Yahoo, YET ..these links are then somehow redirecting to their smashmagazine site without ever opening or landing on the feed page. Am I seeing this wrong? wtf is goin on there? how is this possible?
