I always thought that the hompeage PR of a site was the highest of it's internal page, but this is the first time I've come across a situation where I have higher internal PR ranked pages than my homepage. What's going on with Google?
It is perfectly plausible to have higher PR on inner pages if they have stronger links pointed to them than the home page. It may be unusual since most people build the strongest links to their homepage, but it's certainly possible as I have the same situation with one of my own sites.
If your site structure is good, your internal should be passing some of that mojo upstream. More than PR1. Even with a lot of links, a PR4 internal should pass at least PR2 to the home page is the nav structure is typical.
Because Google just updated inner pages PR in last minor PR updating. After next major PR updating, your homepage should have PR5+.
Yep, make sure the PR4 page points to the home page. It's possible to have a higher ranking inner page if it has better links and gets more visitors than the home page. A well written article that has been posted on high ranking article directories and on your home page can get a lot more views.
Not all the time index page has the highest PR among a websites pages. There are times that inner pages (specially those pages that contain the product or services of a website) outrank the index page either in Google PR or Goggle SERP, or both.
That certain page might has links from unknown website linked toward them. This is common and it could a good sign for better homepage PR when PR update next time, if you are currently linked to homepage from inner pages.
It depends on which page is the most important page of your site. I saw a site that its blog's PR is 6 but its index page's PR is 4, as it blog is more famous than the index page.
Okay but why would you think that? If a page has more link juice coming to it why should that page not have more pagerank than the homepage? Why should Google always give the most pagerank to a homepage? I just think it's strange that you would think that; and i'm sure other people would also think that.
It is completely possible to have a higher PR on internal pages if these inner pages have more quality backlinks than you homepage. Of course, if you have found that many internal pages of your sites have higher PR, that may mean that your homepage will have a higher PR next time.
I always thought that because until now all of my sites had the same PR on the homepage as the highest internal page PR. Someone mentioned that my homepage PR may not have been updated, but that isn't true. The PR of my homepage was PR4, and recently went down to PR1 (I was a bit surprised by it), while most of my internal pages have retained its PR.
PR is based on how many links from PR pages pointing to your site. if an inner page has good content, it can attract traffic and can gain some high PR backlinks down the road which will boost the inner page PR but same thing may not apply for the homepage. or the site owner might be pushing some specific term in the inner page and building backlinks to the inner page for some reason which drove the inner page PR high.
Hi guys, it is possible that your internal page rank have increased more than home page. next when google will update PR then home page will be increased.
Hi, Maybe your internal page has more good links to it then your homepage. Try to search and see who is linking to your internal page.
the deal is simple, your internal page is more popular than your main page. Meaning that more quality back links are pointing towards your highly ranked internal page, and also more traffic comes to your internal page...so don't worry, enjoy!
Never come across such as my eye sight is always on traffic and never see my site PR. Generate more backlink to your home page and update site content might help you to get good PR.
According to Google's Webmaster tools, my homepage has 163K backlinks; whereas, the higher PR rated internal page has 0 (zero) backlinks. Go figure!!
