I have to say from a female point of view it is kinda cheesy. I dont think I would be abel to keep a staright face if someone said that to me, but then again I think most pick-up lines are lame. They make it look like you are trying way to hard, whatever happended to a good ol' fashioned 'Hi may name is...., can I buy you a drink/take you for coffee?'

I think sometimes, if the girl has a sense of humour then it is a good way to break the ice, so long as she knows you are not using it seriously. If she knows you are just messing around then yeah would be a good way to make her laff and then introduce yourself properly, and I dont mean introduce your self as her 'furture husband' or whatever haha!
