How is this happening to my domain? Is it good?

I currently own the domain name "uploadgif.com" and it seems to be bringing in a fair amount of traffic. I've been using it to redirect traffic to my website for the past few months.

Since the 26th of May 2008 the domain has received 2103 unique visits. This may not sound like much, but I haven't promoted the domain, haven't engaged in SEO or anything like that. I've searched the keywords "uploadgif" and "upload gif" in Google and the website doesn't appear on any of the pages (as far as I can tell.)

I'm really curious as to why the domain is receiving a fair amount of visitors when I can't find it on any search engine, nor have I promoted the domain.

Don't get me wrong, it's great to be receiving the traffic, but I'd like to know why I'm getting it  Any opinions/information would be great.

you can look in logs to see where traffic is coming from...

maybe someone else owned it before
    or
might ppl typing "upload gif" directly into the browser address bar, which could resolve to your site.

Its because people who are not so 'internet savy' just type in domains and hope it comes up.

It seems it may be type in traffic(which is often considered the best kind because its there every day of the week, not subject to changes in search algorithms, etc). Check you AWStats if you have it installed and under refers see if it says Direct which means type in Otherwise it will tell you where it's coming from.

Kohashi is right, it's a type-in. That's what people call a "type in domain".

Uh, no you will not. There is no referrer from type-ins. They just typed it in.

Unfortunately I don't have any sort of 3rd party monitoring software installed or being used with this domain. The only monitoring I'm using is URL Forwarding Stats provided by my domain registrar.
The only logical explanation is what several people have suggested, which is the domain being a "type in domain."

Anyone have any idea if the domain was SEO if it could rank high in search engines? Thanks.
