Check out this site and see how the logo drops in. How is that done?

They've got the scriptaculous javascript library loaded so I'd say they've just one of the effects from that. Check out their demos.

Thanks! Never used that before, any reason not to use it if done sparingly? Like will is slow things down much? It seems to work on all browsers & iPhones so nice to add a little movement without using flash.

No, just apply sparingly. You don't want to look like a kid with a new toy :)

My question would be why the blue blazes would you want that bandwidth wasting inaccessible "gee ain't it neat" scripttard asshattery on a website in the first place? Of course that said steaming pile of manure page of ineptitude reeks of "WCAG, what's that?" alongside the trifecta of /FAIL/ at web design -- fixed width layout, fixed metric (px) fonts and questionable color contrasts -- makes one wonder why you'd want ANYTHING from that. Particularly the fat bloated train wreck of bull it is under the hood, showing just how inept it's developer truly is.

I gotta say that this effect is the most useless thing ever to be used on a website. Why would you not want your future customers to see your company´s name the first thing they arrive on the website?
