I was previously using Avast premium antivirus , now when i went to microsoft site recently i came accross the microsoft security antivirus.
Now i have installed this antivirus on my Windows Vista Business edition.

I want to know how is the performance of this antivirus compared to Norton , macafee , or Avg or Avast ?

I'll repeat what I've posted here multiple times and what Consumer Reports said: MSE is less intrusive and won't slow you down as much as McAfee or Norton will but AVG does a better job at security protection. In my case, AVG caught a virus on one of my machines that MSE did not recently.

Its true that AVG does a better job of protecting your system more than any other antivirus. As for microsoft security antivirus, i have not even bothered to use it, can't risk it.

Microsoft Security Essentials is pretty fast since it integrates with Windows and works fast compared to other antivirus programs.

AVG and Kaspersky are the best in my eyes. But MSE is pretty decent as well, I just don't fully trust it'll do the entire job. Ya know?

enterprise. With a past history in vulnerability assessment and penetration testing financial institutions, he has a knack for breaking things and then posing how to fix them. With a heavy Linux and UNIX background most of the projects he works on are focused on these and security related topics. Just make sure you put rediculously large dish repellent on the roof of your car before speaking with him. Current Projects: Nmap Manager Script, CUGNet Project, ISSA Chicago's Website, ChiSNORT Admin, Chicago2600 Admin, DefCon312 Admin
