So if the Bible is divinly inspired, why couldn't God be working through the people at that council meeting as well?
Point is that the council had an agenda and based on that decided what was divine and what wasn't, which goes back to my original point, I don't believe the Bible is the word of God. (Not in entirety anyways)
Your basically saying, "I think it was divinely inspired, because the bible is such a great book, but it might not be" Ooooooh, sounds like someone is going to hell! God doesn't like it when people doubt him
So what happens if God speaks to you, and orders you to kill your entire family? Would you? Do you dare disobey the word of God?
The council can claim what is true or not. They have an opinion like everyone else. It doesn't mean they are right.
No that is not what I'm saying. The people who wrote the Bible were divinely inspired to write it. They were able to write it because God gave them the strength.
God would never make such an order. However, if He ever did, then yes I would do it. God speaks for a purpose. He doesn't just say random stuff that doesn't make sense like you.
Gworld. I am not going there with you. It's pointless because of your closed mind. I have seen the arguments you have been involved with on this topic and it's an endless road with you. Col
It's kinda like watching a movie based on actual events, it's hard to tell what happened, what didn't and what was imbelished to make the movie more dramatic.
Because I doubt God would ask me to do that...why would he? Nice try at changing the subject though, can you answer my question now?
Thats a very poor answer....either the Bible is divinely inspired, or it is not...humans can't pick out which part God inspired and which he didn't...if we could, we would be God, which we are not. God doesn't live in a little box that we can carry in our pocket and open when we want...God is all around us at all times. If more people would quit trying to put God in a box, the world would be a lot better place. However, there are people out there who want to put God in a box so they can feel like they are in control.
This is exactly why discussions on religion are pointless, it all comes down to faith. I think faith in God is a good thing, makes for better people, but too much of a good thing is bad, then you get the fanatics.
Yeah well too bad this move is all based on true events so you don't have to worry about any dramatization or embellishment.
All you have to do is read the Bible, understand it and live by its words. There is no need for fanatics.
As a supposed atheist, your posts in threads about the God of the Bible and the allah of the quran are strikingly different. When the Bible is at hand, it's very accusatory, when the quran is at hand, it's very defensive of the quran. How does a supposed atheist reconcile such?
