how is social bookmarking sites gonna help you with link building?

i mean social bookmarking is for bookmarks that can be accessed from anywhere, the bookmarks you build are on your own page and are NOT indexed, so how is social bookmarking a good way to build links, i dont get it?

i understand commenting on dofollow blogs can get you a good link even with a PR because the page you comment on is indexed, but for social bookmarking your links you create are saved on a page that is dead. so please someone explain to me how social bookmarking sites are a good way to build links!!!

i have used at least 30 socail bookmarks, and it's pretty good when i check google webmaster tool. just trust google spiders which can do what you can't imagin!

 

One way it can help is if you have an interested piece of content on your site, you can promote it via social bookmarking and increase the chances of people linking to it.

For example some good content, with a linkbait-esq title, and a devoted twitter following to promote it to.

 

if they are dofollow, that sure would help. these days most of them are nofollow.

 

I hardly use Social BM sites anymore - except for Digg. That will index your bookmarked page in an hour or so. It really works. Anything else - forget it.

 

I usually spent a lot of time submitting to social bookmark sites. It gained few traffic, though my traget keywords ranked higher during submission.

 

Social bookmarking is the best way to keep up your keywords on high rank and google will index those sites much faster than other sites.

yes some can help with link building, but to be honest, the only way it will help you in any way is if say digg puts your site on their homepage, which is virtually not possible now days, so really i believe social bookmarking is a waste of time, i rather spend time on link exchange, blog commenting and forum posting........unless someone proves that these links gained from social bookmarking sites really help..........

 

hi all...social bookmarking sites are very high traffic and high PR sites.. so if you update site in those sites then automatically we get good back links..

 

If they are high PR and high traffic then you will gain link juice from them which will benefit how you rank

 

well, you bookmark your sites on these social bookmarking sites but your page is hidden and is not indexed, unless im guessing you promote that page on other sites or pages that are high in traffic and indexed with say a google PR........right?

i have testes this, once you create your bookmark page, it will be hidden on a lonely page that will NOT get indexed, i dont see what good that will do.
unless someone explains to me!!

i have had digg and other bookmarking pages for a year now and none of these pages have gotten indexed, go ahead and try it yourself, go to google and type

site://http://digg.com/users/your digg account

and i bet your site will not be listed unless one of your articles got picked up and listed on one of their top pages.

Social bookmarking submission helps me to gain my traffic before but not that much.. And honestly. I'm only getting few quality backlinks with it..

 

Use social bookmarking for your linkbait posts (eg: top 10 lists and that sort of thing). If you write something unusual or creative posting to sites like Digg etc can bring you a shedload of backlinks from other webmasters linking directly to your content.

you are incorrect, your links are only good on these bookmarking sites if your article gets picked up and appears on the their homepage....other then that its useless if you ask me unless someone really proves it with some examples...
