How is page rank related to triffic?

    Is there any relation between page rank and traffic or are they almost completely unrelated?

    I have visited other websites with high traffic (ex. sedo.com) - have pr3 or 4. Other websites have pr7 or8 with low traffic. Is pagerank related to backlink mainly or what? I used to think that websites with high traffic must have a high pagerank, but I'm not sure anymore.

    Any opinions?

    But if you have high PR normally have many links, and some my bring you traffic.
    But you can have 0 links and get huge traffic from adwords for example.

    Google PageRank is one of the factor from many factors for SERP for a website in their business area. The less PR websites with quality inbound links i mean incoming links from related content rich sites will get an approx good rankings over search engines.

    For example our site http://sgdnetworks.com is listed in google for #2 or #3 (on some datacenters) for the keyword ecommerce portal development

    we have PR 0 at this moment.

    But good PR sites will have atleast some traffic than PR 0 or PR 1.

    As I understand it, PR has an effect (to some degree) on where your site appear in the SERP. If your site has high PR then you are more likely to appear above sites of the same category with lower PR for search terms that are related to your site.

    But high PR doesn't guarantee high traffic as if your site has high PR and has been optimized (on and off page) for keyphrases with low search volumes, you just won't get much traffic.

    Again, that is how I understand the relationship between PR and traffic. If anyone feels I'm completely wrong please tell me as I am open to all opinions. :)

    Actually, you are not completely wrong... You are "confusing" search engine traffic with total traffic.
    There are other ways of getting traffic. Word of mouth, offline advertising, people typing your site URL in address bar... ;)

    PR has nothing to do with the traffic or SERPS. It was earlier 2-3 yrs ago, Nobody knows original PR for sure.
