Has anyone tried it? How is it like?
Also, some hosts charge only like $2 a month. How are they?

It depends on what your needs are, I don't know those places specifically but usually free hosting plans are quite limited and often they put ads on your website. Make sure there are no ads and that they can host the web software you need.

Some free hosts (like ours :)) are actually of the same quality (and even better!) than some paid hosts. It helps to look around - don't settle on the first thing you find.

People mostly complain about free hosting's downtime. Godaddy offers hosting for $4 which is not far from $2, godaddy comes with a reputation.

We have cheap, reliable hosting, for really cheap prices.
Why Paid? Free servers are 98% of the times overloaded, misconfigured and/or disabling you to do what you want with your space because of security measures. They also use to host many garbage (doorways, spammers, phishing...)

Of course, this can not be applied to all of them. There are some in which the admin is responsible and takes care.

I tried 000webhost.com for quite sometime now, initially they have some teething problems, being blocked as phishing sites gets into their system. But nowadays everything is running perfect, as good as any paid hosting.

Free hosting sites are great until the owners have to close them down because they are losing money.

Quite true, for free hosting, try to backup far more often than you would if you are using paid hosting.
