How is Duplicate User determined?

I have a previous partner who was banned and admittedly, created a duplicate account. I had nothing to do with whatever he was banned for here previously but we are wanting to sell a website. Obviously, I'm a fairly long-standing and committed member of DP. I want to sell this website and post it but don't want to be looked at as a duplicate account of his.

As long as it is done by IP address and NOT what is posted, I should be fine. But I don't want to be associated as being him simply because I am reposting to sell a website that we both own. I've seen him post about here before.

Thanks for any help you can offer! I certainly don't want to be banned! :)

You may not sell a site for a banned member. If he's the owner of the site, you're out of luck. If you're the registered owned you should be fine.

We use many types of information to determine duplicate accounts. IP addresses are not the only thing considered.
