I was just looking over data for the last few years and was trying to figure out how directory page rank was calculated. Are all pages averaged together? If thats the case sites with only a couple of pages would be stronger where as forums and blogs would tend to be weaker. Was basing this off of: http://gfe-mu.google.com/Top/Recreation/Autos/Makes_and_Models/Volvo/ http://volvospeed.com is listed as a 0 despite having 500k+ pages indexed and several individual pages having PR4 or higher. I did a search and found a lot of theory but was wondering if Google themselves ever said the basis for directory page rank.
Pagerank is calculated without taking into account whether its directory or not. In calculation of PR backlink from same domain pages carries high weightage and it may makes you think diretory PR in some different way because directories inside pages are inter linked very wisely to transfer the juice
Since most directories won't be related to your site's content, it doesn't carry as much weight. Also, it depends on how many other links are on the page, especially above yours.
I'm talking about google directory. I have site data going back several years. In a few cases I have fairly low domains in the tool bar PR out ranking pretty high ranking sites in the directory.
