How is Alexa Rank Computed?

How is Alexa Rank computed??
I have a site which gets more than 70k impressions a month.. I see another site with lesser number of impressions and that site has half my alexa rank..(ahead of me by about 25k ranks )

I don't know how this is calculated..The other site is using an Alexa Badge on the site.Could this be the reason???

It's traffic. Maybe your visitors have blocked ads?

 

Alexa ranking normally collect only those visitor with alexa tool bar, so the traffic ranking is not so accurate

 

thats exaclty how its computed.. It does help to add those alexa images of your stats on your site somewhere.

 

i too think so!! seems like the sites that use the alexa rank badge have a better advantage!

 

if you can keep your visitor, your alexa will increase when they update. Just wait.

It's pretty obvious, these sites with high alexa are visited by lots of users who have the alexa toolbar installed.

 

i think the having the alexa site badge has an added advantage!! Because alexa can clearly know how much traffic comes to the site!!

 

It is computed by people who have the toolbar installed visting your site, but if you have the alexa widget, everyone who visits your site will be counted towards your rank.

I don't think Alexa depends completely on it's toolbar to collect data. If that is the case many non-technical websites should have low alexa rank as their visitors are mostly unaware of such toolbars or extensions.

At present,Alexa algorithm has newly included parameter like Keywords, CLickstream and so on, thus purily inceasing traffic is no longer effective.

alexa only looks for the daily visitors so the ranking system is not good in Alexa.

 

When i contacted alexa on this strange drop in position even when the traffic is stable,
they gave an answer that their system is fine !
