Building a couple of social bookmarks to the page you want to get indexed should help to speed the process up. Twitter or Google+ can also help out there. For me, if I want to get indexed within several hours or even right away, I start off with keyword research. For instance, if there's about 20,000 results of that particular keyword and it's "low competition", then that's going to get indexed asap. As far as more competitive keywords, then social bookmarking helps with indexing NOT ranking. Pinging helps as well. Go to pingler.com and get the URL list from there. Make sure you submit your site to Google Webmaster tools as well and also adding a sitemap.
