9. 9. Update directory listings. Many people list their site in directories when it launches and never look back. Make sure those directory listings are up-to-date in terms of keywords and pages you’re linking to.
10. 10. Update social media profiles. Along the same lines, keep keywords and links current for your profiles on LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter – and Google+ if you’re there. People tend to forget about their profiles on peripheral social sites such as Twellow andFriendFeed, so keep those on your SEO radar as well.

Make sure that you have have high traffic keywords in your title and use those throughout the content of your site. Post articles to forums and article directories, making sure that the article grabs the readers attention so they will stop and have a look at your article. Say something that make the reader want to click on your link but make sure that the title is relevant to your article. One final bit of advice, if your web site is just a squeeze page then chances are you will never to get to page one of google because squeeze pages do not provide content for the reader.

 

After you have done the on-page SEO stuff the best way is to gain authority. Best option is to make yourself known in the field you are working in. Comment on blogs, write as a guest blogger, place articles on your own website, register at some directories (locally and nationally) and you'll see the result. However it will take some time, based on the competition in your field.

 

Just Update Good Quality Content and Optimize website according to Google Guideline then start improving your backlink.

If you want to get top rank in the search Engines you will have to do some research like find out the current updates for Google what actually it wants and try to do those things.

 

barbiecan,I agree and by knowing google's update will help him to know which SEO work he should do but i think he should also research for keyword and links he is creating that backlinks he is creating is google counting or not and for this reason he may use SEM rush.

how can Know whether my keyword & meta description are good... Because I am not expert in keyword research ...I just checked for some keywords in google keyword tool. and I selected some keyword from medium & low level competitors..& I searched those keyword in the google ..there were only some websites with little backlinks..is it sorrect way of doing key word research??
and also did some forum posting, social bookmarking , blog commenting & share in socail networks ..still I didn't submit to article directries because I am not good in article writing ...
from these backlinks my alexa rank was working good..here how it worked
