I actually think it's a LOT more important than what most people are saying. A lot of "SEO Gurus" are debunking PR as a tiny part of things. I have pages that are highly ranked, and rank for keywords that older and "fuller" sites would probably rank higher than me.

But, Google and, my favourite, MSN, think I have good content. Who am I to complain. ;-)

PR is important for trading links. People looks at PR when exchanging links also.
The important thing is SERP. But usuall if you succed to get the position in SERP you will get higher PR.

PR is not available for 100% accurate valuing and analyzing as the PR algorithm is patented and exclusive to Google TM & Copyright, and is not released to 3rd parties

But some analysts consider that quote
'What is the PR point value of the different PR levels.
Most observers believe that the relationship between PR levels is logarithmic rather than linear.
In other words PR5 is not worth 25% more than a PR4, but may be worth 4 to 6 times more'

That is a 'quote' but PR is a valued component that is a target barometer for sites to try and reach a better page ranking for their site

IMO, PR is important to me as long as I am trading / selling / buying advertisement space / text links.

I think good PR is important for trading links and to some extent getting good search engine rankings.

Pagerank doesn't mean anything in and of itself. It is just a broad reflection of the amount / quality of the links you have pointing to your site. If those links are from related sites and have the proper anchor text, it is a good indicator of how you will rank for those terms. Although, even if your links aren't right on target, some general pagerank gives a litte extra boost to your rankings.

I feel like it's just a number. However, it does separate the larger sites from the smaller ones. I'm neutral on PRs.

What makes no sense to me is I had a PR of 4 with a 4 page site with no links. Then I expanded my site and now I have over 20 pages with links and I have a PR of 2.

That K.O.R tool told me to add words to my site so many times I think I would be spamming!

The PR is very important to me because people that know what it is, might just be potential customers, thus it's a great thing to have when you have a site that sells products. So if you got a pr, people will think that you will be established.

The two uses are Google rankings and link exchanges.

(Of course always try to trade links with higher pagerank sites rather than down whenever possible.)
