How important is your HS Diploma?

For someone who wants to continue their education in college we'll say, can you get away with only having a GED?

For instance, say you have your GED then go to a community college for 2 years then on to a 4 year college to get your bachelors. Can you make those moves with a GED? In other words, can you get to the same objective (Bachelor degree) as someone with a HS diploma.

    just wondering

Of course. A GED is equivalent to a high school diploma. They're actually both diplomas.
Yes you can. Especially if you go to a community college first.

    I'm from Macedonia.
Here the salary per month with HS diploma is 100 euros maybe less (if you find job somewhere), but if you have knoledge, the salary will be 4+ times higher.

If you are thinking about dropping out of high school and getting your GED, I'd advise against it. Just about everyone I have known who dropped out of high school was "planning to get their GED," but none of them have. It's a problem with motivation - you drop out of high school, find a low-level job that pays you more money than your old high school buddies, you start buying nice things, and suddenly you realize you don't have time to do the work for the GED because you've got to keep working to pay for your nice things. I've seen this happen over and over again.

If you've already dropped out of high school, dedicate yourself to getting the GED and then applying to a community college. Most CC's are easy to get in to as long as you have a HS diploma or GED. From there you can transfer to a 4-year college after 2 years, and I can tell you that 4-year colleges do not discriminate against CC applicants. I know Ivy League students who did their first two years at a CC.

Having a GED is fine to get into college as long as you are capable of passing the tests that subsitute the ACT. The grades you made in high school almost don't matter as long as you passed those subject. A GED states that you did pass. It is all about the national testing... which is dumb in my opinion.

Yeah, you can go to college with a GED, but if you can't even force yourself to finish the last few years of high school how are you going to force your way through college? It's still school and it still sucks.

Cept in college your teachers don't care and push you as much as they do in high school, so it's easier to slack off and fail.

That's a personal thing. Your friends or whoever you know are just lazy.
