hi, I was just wondering ..

on the W3C validation tool, i have 96 errors...just wondering if that matters much to SEO?

Also, someone quoted me $90 to fix it...is that worth it?

I don't know if it has any SEO effect; but I wouldn't pay $90 to fix 96 errors... Just post the URL in the "website review" directory and ask for help... There are plenty of bored webmasters here that would probably help you for nothing more then a +rep :)

Like all things SEO, this is a question that gets raised a lot and people will have different opinions but from my experience it does not matter. Optimally it is good to have w3c compliance, but in the end it does not matter. i have sites that rank on the first page or two for MASSIVE search terms and they have errors and you can find lots of examples of huge corporate sites that have errors as well. In other words, it's a good idea if you can comply but it's not going to make any appreciable difference in the end.

I think that it's not so important for SERP too. I've seen sites on the3 first positions with tons of errors.
It would be good to fix them just for feeling that you make everything right.

WC3 is important to ensure the view and look of your site is stable through most browsers.

    SEO wise....not too much ;)

96 Errors seem to be a lot, if you take a look carefully, you will see many errors are the same errors.

W3C validation is not so important in case of seo but it is needed to make a site error free neat and clean.

I just updated a site to make it compliant, it's made no difference in SERP's at all. However it could become rlevant in the future, why not just sort it out when you have some time, that's what I've done, it's taken me over a year to get around to it, I'm glad I didn't rush to get it done, as like I said right now it does not sem to make any difference whatsoever.

I could rank in top ten position at google with validation errors in the page
So it is not that important.
So just take your time and fix it yourself.

Having been involved in the Internet business since the early 1990's I can tell you that W3C's role has become more important in the past few years than when they first started. While some folks argue that W3C compliance does not affect SERP, I think in the near future it will affect ranking position.

We have seen Google since 2004 continually put up road blocks and insert new criteria affecting their algorithm and website rankings. At some point W3C compliance will enter into the picture. Might as well get started now.

Having said that, the postings relative to cross browser compliance, efficient code, to make your website work better are equally important reasons to be W3C compliant.

I wouldn't worry too much about it mate. I have not had any hassles when it comes to validation. It wouldnt be a bad thing to get your site validated as the Search Engines will be able to more readily see your sites but at the end of the day it is your content that means the most.
