How important is the title tag?

Like the topic says...i was wondering should i make it descriptive to my site or target the keywords

 

i think it is the most important on page optimization technique .Use the main keywords in your title tag and its advisable to keep the characters in limit as Google chops of after 68 characters . Do not repeat any word and it must be unique for all pages.

 

Have a look at the SERPs for the keyword you're targetting, and check out the title for the top 10. These people are already ranking, so you might as well steal their ideas.

On the other hand, if you are confident you will rank high for your targetted keyword anyway, you could go for a title that is different from all the other ones in the SERP, so you stand out more... In short: loads to do here, loads to learn, so go forth and experiment

Yeah, title is important but good title can be set in 5 minutes, and what is 5 minutes with months of seo works, link building etc...

 

Both but dont repeat the keyword and avoid using superlatives like BEST, TOP, NUMBER 1 or MOST EFFECTIVE. Also try to make it a complete sentence, not just stuff your keywords or phrases.
