Hi everyone. I am currently in the process of working out why traffic to my site has dropped dramatically over the past 6 weeks or so. In some cases this has been as much as an 80% reduction. First question is how important is Page ranking and how does that affect a website ranking in a web search. One site http://www.stepfamily.asn.au currently has a page ranking of 6. Although ranks well in Australian search (yes I come from the land down under), when it comes to America ranks poorly Other sites with a ranking of only 2 rank higher in search results. So just how important is page ranking Thanks John
Page Rank is somewhat important, but you should be more concerned with actual PR or what you think your PR should currently be. Toolbar PR is often outdated. Relevance for the keyword is more important in the end though. If you have a PR3 with 100 links related to pickles, it would likely outrank a PR6 that has one or two links related to pickles. Google sees link relevance in things like link anchor text, keywords in the url or title, how that page itself ranks for that keyword, etc.
Page Rank dont affect your SERP much. The only advantage is your website will get indexed fast if your PR is high. Other than that, it not so important if you are not plan to sell link or your website
I think the only advantage that PR could give to your site is the value of your site to Google,...Basically SERP is the most important of all its because it will give your site organic traffic.
Its obviously important. In the sense that if a certain page is on top rank, then one can expect a greater number of visitors on it. Certainly your page is in a poplar state and it is more accessible to online people.
For some it is very important because it refers that their site is trusted by Google, but for some it is better not to look at it and just focus on the traffic coming into your website...
Toolbar pagerank is just a metric, and a pretty useless one. When it comes to ranking, the primary factor to be taken into consideration is the backlinks - the number, the relevancy, the anchor text used, as well as - to some extent - content.
PR and Traffic are for earning $$$. But those have different method. Sell links and blogpost need a stable PR while traffic is important for adsense's and others advertisement.
ranking is very important if ur site ranking increases then ur site popularity will also increased and SE show it at top of other Site list.
PR not strongly influences positions of the website. PR specifies on how many google "respects" with your website
Your domain already indicate you target .au, you are not a TOP LEVEL DOMAIN like .com or .org, so dream on getting good america traffic.
Im not sure that PR has any use at all, apart from looking a little good if you choose to seel the website.
PR means nothing. It means everything to some noobs on here selling their sites, o I have a PR6 blog for sale. This means nothing as they could have purchased a poplar domain that had expired ect.
