    As with any business, profit is largely dependent upon the number of people you get through the door. Whether your business model is based upon selling a product, or earning indirectly through advertising revenue, the more people who visit, the more people you can pitch at, and the more cash you earn.

    You can spend a lot of money trying to reach your target market. Alternately, you can optimise your web site so that traffic comes naturally (and freely) from the search engines.

    In short, it's a cost effective marketing mechanism and often has a good conversion because the people visiting are already searching for your product and not just stumbling over something they are only remotely interested in.

    Search Engine optimization is considered to be a cheap part to get quality organic traffic delivered to your website
    It is quite cheap from other traffic methods and bring the most demanded traffic

    Keep in mind also that with proper SEO and an effective SEM campaign the traffic driving to your website is very targeted. The visitor is searching for what you have to offer, they did not stumble upon it, mis click a banner, forced a pop up or anything. They searched for it, they saw your link and clicked. Now if your website is appealing to them, price is right, they will contact you and hope for a sale. That is the true benefit of proper SEO, TARGETED traffic.

    See if you have a site and nobody knows it then it is waste. If it is known to other by word of mouth, then it is not adequate.
    By Search Engine Optimization, you can make your site coming in top 10 in google, yahoo, msn, etc. If your site comes in Search engines in at number 90, then nobody will be able to see it. If your site comes in top10 or in top20, then only it will be able to get more visitors and thereby generating more revenue as user when searches for a keyword or more related keywords relating to your site( the keywords for which you have optimized your site) will never go past top 30 listings(very rare though as more users see top 10 and some top 20).
    So, SEO will help your site to achieve higher rankings in Search Engines.
