    Actually, I think if you have a quality site, submit it to the correct category and follow the guidelines you have a decent chance of getting listed.

    The DMOZ link itself isn't overly useful as far as people coming to your site from the DMOZ directory.

    The magic of the DMOZ link is how many additional links it will get you from all of the publishers who use the DMOZ data. Most of them are crap sites that disappear as quickly as they pop up, but Google uses the data to seed their own directory, and their pages have a roughly similar PageRank as the DMOZ page for your category, if you're into the whole PageRank thing.

    Basically, a DMOZ link will get you a lot of additional free links, and if the anchor text includes your targeted keyword(s) it should help your SERPs quite a bit.
