How important is Bounce Rate?

I understand what bounce rate is.
I also understand that having a small bounce rate means that your content is well seen and read.
However, besides your self-esteem, is bounce rate also important for search engines, or for other rankings?
Which should be the range of a very good bounce rate?

You don't need to have a better SERP ranking if you want to have low bounce rate. Remember that you are most likely dealing with users, not with search engines when it comes to this matter. There are many factors that need to be considered with this.

One thing you must consider is that you have to make your site interesting for your visitors. Sometimes having a high bounce rate means there's nothing interesting about your site.

High bounce rate means you are not getting target visitors or the contens you provide are not that interesting or valuable to your visitors. Another reason could be the wrong combination of colors or fonts etc.
Bounce rate is just an indication about how appealing is your site to the target visitors. No idea if this affects the SERP.

Bounce rate is very important factor in SEO. If it is less than 50% it means your site bounce rate is good.

If your landing page is designed to get someone to buy through you, again bounce rate plays a big part. A high rate means your conversion rate is suffering. This is where it may be necessary to analyze the keywords visitors are clicking on from search engines to see if the content they find is properly connected. If not the user will look no further, and leave the site.

I have a pretty high bounce rate. But my visitors often land directly on inner pages written for the keyword(s) they are searching for. They typically read that article, since it is precisely what they were searching for, then leave the site. If I have 3,000 visitors daily, they generate about 6,000 pageloads. The visitors are highly targeted and find the precise page they want, because I carefully optimize each page for its relevant keywords.

I think bounce rate is important for google to determine if your site deserves a good ranking for your keyword. If the competing sites of your keyword has better low bounce rate then google will prefer those sites and place them higher on rankings. For sure low bounce rate helps in SEO so it is important.

Google's main objective is to end user search. So if you have a very high bounce rate that means the visitors did not find what they are looking for in your site or your site has poor navigation. If google brought the user to your site and he stayed for long time or less bounce rate it means google was successful delivering the user to the intended site. Bounce rate affects SEO a lot.

As for your question how do google knows the bounce rate of the site without google analytics, my guess is that when a user types something in google and that user chooses one of the site listed, google can track how long did that user stayed to that site as per search query. This is just a hunch though.

Improving the bounce rate is important you can do this by targeting each article for a keyword and try to rank for each article with individual keyword. The huge PANDA updated was all about Content and user experience. The fastest way to improve your site's bounce rate is putting a video as people can't resist watching video which would make the user stay longer to your site. Hope this helps.

Yes, cares more about your users, not only the searching engine itself. According to the experiences, a good content with low bounce rate is usually recognized well by google, and she will give you a good rank if it is not over competitive, even without any links building.

And the more importance thing than the google ranking and bounce rate is the exchange rate from visitors to your sales, that's more difficult, and hard to know the rules. We may find sometimes you may have good content (at least you think so), but nobody purchase your products online!

The bounce rate has to be considered with the average time on site. If visitors find what they are looking for on the page they land on, they will spend time reading but not click through to anywhere else on the site, leaving you with a high bounce rate. One thing to try is to place the best content a click away. Not very user friendly, I know, but I've improved the bounce rate on a few sites that way.
If you have a high bounce rate and low time on site, then something is wrong with your content, site design, fonts, titles etc.

I don't think bounce rates matter much as far as search engines and SEO are concerned. Bounce rate shows you how long a visitor stays in your site and through this, you get to determine if you are targeting the correct keywords for that particular article/page. Google has a nice post in their blog about the importance of other metrics such as bounce rate. This article shows that there are other things you can work on aside from or after Page Rank.

Hope that helps. Have a good day!

A bounce rate measure the number of people who arrive at your site, leave your site after viewing just only one page.A visit is called bounce. The bounce rate can help you determine the quality of your website traffic. It's an analysis tool that shouldn't be overlooked.

Avg bounce Rate of any website is less than 30 - 35%. If bounce rate is good means site structure is gud and its content is also user friendly.
