I have an extensive list of sites that I can post on that will give me high PR DOFOLLOW backlinks, however they only let you post your name as the anchor text. My question is: Will this hurt my rankings, improve it, or is it just a waste of time even if they are high PR?
Anchor text teach the robots crawlers For example if you type games on google milions of sites will apear, but what site is ranked better and you see first ?...the site that has many backlinks with anchor text "games" pointed to your website
anchor text is actually good to use. For example if you type 'click here' in google look what comes up first... Adobe - Obviously because they have so many anchor text links saying click here they have a good ranking. If you use anchor text which relates to your keywords your rankings can actually improve. There is nothing wrong with using anchor text so don't just leave that site out of your traffic generation strategies. -- Hamish
err yah i meant dofollow lol. Ok so anchor text is important, but if I can only put my name is my anchor text "Travis" due to prevention of comment spamming, will that still help my rankings in SERPs because I'm getting a vote from a high PR site?
After reading the posts in this thread I get the impression that you associate a high Google PageRank with a high search-engine ranking in Google. That's not necessarily true, since there is no relation between these two! Yes, commenting on those websites will increase the PR of your website if these are dofollow links, and no, your website will only rank higher for your name, which is probably not the keyword you are aiming to rank high for. So, unless you are certain that commenting on those websites will drive a considerable amount of traffic to your website, commenting is a waste of time.
