How important is alexa ranking ?

I think alexa ranking is getting popular day by day.
If you have a good alexa ranking, it always add to your site's reputation.

Many CPA companies have a look at alexa ranking of your site before they approve you in.

 

I have a site that has a pretty good traffic.

Although the site is not in English language, Alexa shows mainly related links in English.

Despite repeated requests, Alexa refuses to move those English related links.

That means they do not care so much of the quality of data. They just need something to show.

 

Alexa is great for giving you a rough idea of traffic relating to your competitors. And it's great for impressing bosses. Other than that, it's not that important in my opinion.

 

Now a days I trust the alexa rank more than Google SERPs... as Google is full of SPAM and only SPAM so if you want to identify a better site then u need to consider alexa rank too....

 

Alexa seems to be wierd sometimes, When I get more traffic alexa rank decreases, when I get less traffic ranking goes up.

 

Alexa can be use to compare against a competitor’s site to measure marketing efforts and popularity but Alexa traffic can be gamed and therefore show inaccurate results.

 

If you want to sell website/domain then alexa and PR are important.

 

Now a funny thing about alexa. So let me put it this way: if alexa is used by most webmasters (I agree with that) and most popular sites are search engines, social networks and porn sites that means the webmasters preferences are the above displayed.

Now a serious question: Why alexa toolbar is considered virus by some AV programs and google toolbar not? If alexa would be on the white list than it would be much more popular than now. I had to manually add it to white list in order to "manipulate" my ranking

 

Alexa isn't useful as an exact measure of a sites worth (traffic, pv's etc). Mainly for the fact that not everyone has the Alexa toolbar installed.
And who are the main people with this toolbar? Webmasters. Which instantly is bias more towards webmaster related websites.
