When I am looking for a product to promote I don't really care to much
about the affiliate resources. Even if it is there I won't end up using it.

So my question to everyone is how important is affiliate resources to you
what role does it play when you are trying to find a product to promote,
and whats the most important affiliate resource?

    Thanks

A lot of super affiliates don't care about aff resources because they know what to do. But with majority of the affiliates proving some templates and banners actually speeds up the process and can be very handy. Therefore it's always recommended to have a good affiliate resource page.

Affiliate resources give you a head start with keywords and rebrandable PDFs, but the fact is most merchants just provide a few crappy banners - which of course, are blase.

For the most part though, affiliates need to design their own stuff for the sake of uniqueness and effectiveness. Use the merchant's stuff (if any) as a basic guideline -- no more than that.

It helps if they've already made a themed landing page. It kind of prepares the user.

Affiliate resources are a must for affiliate programs, but a lot of publishers simply stuff in random keywords there with few banners and that's it.

If you can make your resources pages actually USEFUL for affiliates, then why not?

As a publisher myself, I always make sure that I provide plenty of resources for my affiliates.

Not just a few banners, but a bit of psychology and background to the market, to help them properly aim their pitches. Plus, remember lots of affiliates are new to the game, so a few general tips will go a long way.

Swerd has pioneered a bunch of new types of resource, like sales pages targeted for different groups of key phrases, videos and entire downloadable minisites. The more a publisher can provide for his affiliates, the easier their job.

Of course, I do firmly believe in affiliates also creating their own custom creatives. You don't want a million identical sites all over the place promoting one product.

Keywords are OK as long as they've been properly tested and grouped.

    As an affiliate, I want:
+ plenty of banners, cover graphics and related graphics.
    + keywords
    + landing pages
    + articles
    + free previews/rebrandable PDFs
