I seem to be able to find lots of info extolling the virtues of exact match domains, but no so much on whether having one keyword makes much of a difference. So whilst I get that a domain called pinklaptopreviews.com is great when someone searches for "pink laptop reviews", I'd like to know does "review" make much of a difference when someone searches for "acer aspire reviews". Thanks for any advice (And no I'm not doing a site about pink laptop reviews, it's just an example)
I would recommend a brandable domain. Keyword stuffed domains have, in my opinion, been losing their juice for some time (just as hyphenated domains faded from the serps about two years ago). For example, I just did a search for 'concert tickets' on Google. concerttickets.org is at #8, but look at what is above it. 1. Tickemaster 2. Stubhub 3. Livenation 4. Vividseats 5. Etc. Those are brandable domains, and they are doing quite well from the looks of it. You might also note that there is not a single hyphenated domain in the top 30. I wonder what that means, especially given how many in these forums are still recommending keyword stuffed, hyphenated domain names?
I never agree with this thing that a domain should contain keyword. Do Google contains ' search engine ' Do paypal contains ' payment/money/online money ' Do digitalpoint contains ' SEO/Internet/Webmaster ' Still these are on TOP. So, do not worry.
it is always good to have keyword in domain name...it helps in ranking up....you can use pink-laptop-reviews.com ...
I have to disagree. If you're going after a competitive general search term against an authority site with tons of backlinks having a keyword in the domain won't get you to the first page, but it still works very well for less competitive niches and longtail keyword phrases. I made a post several months back showing the URL of a domain that was ranked on Google's 1st page on the strength of the domain name alone. For at least 3 months the domain owner must have forgotten about it, no index page, meta-tags, just a "blank" (empty) domain. And that was in a semi-competitive niche. I had the same thing happen to me, while waiting for the domain to propagate I started a new project and forgot about it, by the time I remembered it was still on Google's 2nd page even though there were no pages.
If I recall correctly there were less than a half a dozen. None of them seemed to be from high PR sites, more than likely from the owners other site. But I can say from experience (meaning reaching Google's 1st or second pages enough times) that using the exact match works well, but it works better for minisites targeting one specific keyword than it does for larger sites.
That most in these forums have no clue what they are typing about. Most are drawing on experiences ranking long tail terms that have no competition or are in niches most other marketers would not give the time of day. Keyword in the domain does not mean squat with a properly SEOd site and quality back links..... Brand first!!!
It seems this thread has generated some discussion, but no-one seems to have addressed your specific question. In general, I think that having your keywords in your domain is definitely a positive factor. And I do think that 'reviews' in your domain will help with the search phrase "pink laptop reviews", but as it matches only 1/3 of the search phrase, the benefit is much, much less than it would be if your domain was "pinklaptopreviews.com". And, as others have mentioned, while this is a strong factor, it's not the only factor, and I believe there are other factors that are nearly as strong.
It does help to get all your keywords into your domain. I've gotten a few websites, most with all the keywords in the domains, and a few without. The ones with the keywords in the domains seem to have ranked better than those without.
Better to go for the one with keywords .. coz .. it gives u some extra benefits .. over keyword less domains .
Yes.. am agree with some of the above comment.... It will helps to get ranking easily to your website, if your domain contain with related keyword. So nothing to worry about this. you can concentrate on how much you can better optimize your website. Any suggestions please paste here. - Jopson
