For those who are currently active in trying to make money with at least one website you own, how important do you consider having an e-mail list? If you got a professional bulk e-mail sending account for free, would you use it?

    I'm quite curious.

I'm an affiliate marketer and I build lists for some - not all - of my sites. In some niches I'm in it doesn't make sense to build a list but for some of my sites mailing lists work really great. I think you'll find that many marketers swear by mailing lists and are very focused on building subscribers and selling products over and over again to that list. It can be a time saving way to take advantage of past traffic to your site instead of having to build new traffic.

Mailing lists help your customers know when there is a new update or something important comes

It depends on your business model. Mailing lists are important to me. I agree that building one doesn't make sense for every niche, but if it's viable, then you should. It's a list of people that have proven that they are the kind who enjoy what you are selling, and who spend money online. You have also gotten past any trust barriers that they have already. And to top it all off, they have specifically asked for more contact. That is a beautiful thing.

I think their important but I wouldn't send too many emails out. A monthly newsletter with quality articles or new site info could be helpful.

I think its good to have an email list for your newsletters, you can educate your end users with articles pertaining to the type of site you have, keep them up to date with company news and add some ads in and then you have extra revenue.

number one search engine optimization tool would be a free auto e-mail responder. E-mail this is very essential to your niche products and services but finding out which one works the best takes time and a lot of effort

.What I've been hearing reading and researching auto e-mail blasting works very effectively if your e-mail list and the letters in your e-mail are written with niche content and they fit the key efforts of your e-mail campaign

Best of luck on this and will take time to build an excellent list that will get you turn around people finding your e-mails very effective

We live and breathe mailing lists! Having the right list is crucial for launching both offline and online campaigns. Where I work, we use highly targeted business lists every day for lead generation. =) We have a global database of business contacts, and it has grown over the years. Of course, updating and scrubbing the lists is another story. We have a whole department that takes care of lists alone. =)

they are important to build a relationship with your buyers-if you don't overdo it-don't email your list everyday- but definitely get a list and get an auto-responder and fill it with helpful information and your readers will be glad to open your emails.

I see an overwhelming yes e-mail lists are important. How does everybody send them? I'm curious if it is through a service like aweber where you use their mail server and web interface, or software on your desktop with your ISP's mail server.

I enjoy having a respected, reliable service take care of the mailing for me, so I only use Aweber. That way, I have absolutely no worries about people forgetting that they opted in and ticking off my ISP with a barrage of spam complaints. Not that I email very much to begin with. I think you wear out your welcome quickly doing that. But it's just one less thing that could possibly blindside me.

I've been slowly building up a mailing list through an opt-in on my freelance site. I use my list to keep my clients informed about any special discounts I'm offering and about any products I might have decided to sell. As a writer, most of my work is client-specific, but I've found that the list is a great tool when I decide to offer things like PLR content or reports.

I don't use an auto-responder, btw. I know it is extra work, but I try to make individual contact with each of my opt-ins to find out what they are interested in. Then I build up smaller lists for clients who care about discounts, who buy reports, etc. It's a lot of work, but it has proven to be worth it!

I've been thinking of trying my hand at affiliate marketing, so I can see where an auto-responder would be useful there. But for my own purposes, my complicated process works just fine.

I agree with this terminology 100% because the extra work you put in automated opt in list will help promote your services and products.

It is said that aweber is a great company to get this from

I agree with you 100%building an e-mail list is very important especially for your niche products and services via Internet. If you're trying to build consistent web traffic into your niche products and services over the next years to build an e-mail list to help promote those products using WordPress blogs feed burner and many other web applications such as a weber.

You should have something really valuable to provide to subscriber's, then mailing list could be a hit.
